Testing Our Wind Vane at the Beach – A Day of Discovery!

What an exciting day we had at the beach! Our young explorers brought their wind vane prototypes for a real-world test, and guess what? It worked! The children’s faces lit up as their creations spun and pointed with the breeze—a thrilling moment that connected theory to reality.

Not every vane behaved perfectly, and that was the best part. When something didn’t work as expected — they observed, shared ideas, and figured out what tweaks could make their models better. Those little “why didn’t this work?” moments are where critical thinking and resilience take root. It reminded us that science isn’t about getting it perfect the first time—it’s about curiosity, persistence, and learning from every challenge.

The best part? Even our primary group was completely intrigued. They crowded around, asking questions and making predictions. This simple activity has now set the stage for their own explorations in the weeks ahead.

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get better came the highlight: waiting for the High Tide to set in. One learner placed a stick in the sand and wondered how far the water would swell. Inch by inch, the waves crept closer until—yes—they reached the mark! That simple act turned into a powerful lesson in observation, patience, and the ocean’s natural rhythm. One single moment with the tide brought the lesson to life turning theory into understanding and wonder.

This day wasn’t just about building a wind vane. It was about connecting science to life, sparking curiosity, and giving children the joy of figuring things out with their own hands. Because when learning feels real, it stays for life. Days like these matter because they connect classroom concepts to the real world. Children see science in action, think critically when things don’t go as planned, and discover that nature itself is the best laboratory. And the excitement we saw today? It’s just the beginning..
